# Trezor Login: Access Your

The process is deliberately physical and local, not account-based.

**1\. Connect the Device** Plug your Trezor into your computer via USB. Open Trezor Suite (desktop app or the web app at `suite.trezor.io/web`). The web app requires a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, or Opera) because it relies on WebUSB; Firefox and Safari will not work .

**2\. Enter Your PIN on the Computer, Guided by the Device** This is the critical security step. Your Trezor screen displays a **randomized 3×3 grid of numbers** that changes every single time. Your computer screen shows a blank grid. You must click the positions on your computer that correspond to the numbers shown on your device. This prevents keyloggers from capturing your PIN, because the malware on your computer sees only the positions you click, not the numbers themselves . If you enter the wrong PIN too many times, the device will wipe itself to protect your funds.

**3\. Optional Passphrase (The "Hidden Wallet" Layer)** If you enabled a passphrase, you will be prompted after the PIN. This is an extra word or phrase that creates a completely separate hidden wallet. It is **not stored on the device or any server**. Entering a different passphrase opens a different wallet. This is optional but powerful for plausible deniability .

**4\. Physical Confirmation** Once unlocked, any action—sending funds, signing a transaction, or connecting to a third-party service—requires you to physically press the buttons on your Trezor device to confirm. This is the final barrier: even if your computer is fully compromised, the attacker cannot move funds without you physically approving it on the device.

### Important Distinction: Wallet Login vs. Third-Party Login

Do not confuse unlocking Trezor Suite with using Trezor as a login key elsewhere. Trezor supports **U2F (Universal 2nd Factor)** for logging into services like Google or Dropbox, and it can sign into DeFi platforms via integrations like MetaMask . Those are separate authentication flows where the device acts as a security key—they are not how you "log into" your own wallet.

### The One Rule That Matters

**Never enter your recovery seed anywhere except directly on the Trezor device itself** (and only during recovery). Trezor Suite will never ask for your seed phrase during login . If any website or pop-up asks for those words, it is a scam. Your PIN and passphrase protect access; your seed phrase is the master backup that restores everything if the device is lost. Keep it offline, always.
